I wouldn't just on ur next rebuild go back to stock compression and bore and don't ride as hard

ive thought about doing that but cant afford another rebuild now. i would really like to start over with stock and throw cam in it and be more reliable

I have a camd, carbd, valved, 440 that I built over 6 years ago.
I beat it to DEATH.
I drag race it constantly.
Ive redlined WAY longer then I should have.
I ran fuel I shouldnt have.
It runs better then anyones ATV that I know of and I know alot of people.
Anyway.
440 is just as reliable as a stock motor anyone who tells you different doesnt know anything.
If its not tuned right, it wont rev high, get hot...etc.
But any motor not tuned right will do that.
I wouldnt down grade at all for a stock ex motor.
Ive rode a stock 400ex after building mine, the difference is HUGE.
my 440 has lasted longer then the stock motor lasted in my EX.
Throw a cam in it now, tune it right, youll be happy.
I hope this didnt come off the wrong way, Im deffinetly not trying to bash what your trying to do.
I just dont understand...lol.
I understand about your accident, I had one to on my EX that partially severed my right hand, after a year of occupational therapy I couldnt ride for another year.
Then it got better, I still cant MX race or high speed woods ride because ill loose my grip on jumps and it gets really sore after 15mins of trail riding.
So I built mine for drag racing and only go in straight lines on flat ground for short periods of time...lol.
I just dont think trading down is the answer.

thanks for your input im not offended by anything you said. thats why i wanted opinions. i personally built mine on my kitchen table so i know mine better than this stock one i looked at. i went and test rode it and ran great except it wasnt jetted for the pipe and it smoked like no other when i let off the throttle. so them 2 things that drew me away from it and ill just keep mine for awhile.
