I just bought a 330 kit for my 300ex. I was just wondering, Why it won't work on a 250x?

because the 300ex has a longer stroke the risk pin on the piston is in a different location.

I believe you can run the big bore. I didn't think the wrist pin location was different on either of them. It has been some time since I have worked on these motors though. From my memory the only difference between the 250x and 300ex were very minor in the fact that the stroke, cam, and compression were different.

If I remember right the stroke on the 300ex is 12.7mm longer than that of the 250x. Hence the 330 kit would only make your 250x around 290 or so. It was fairly common several years ago for alot of the youth production quads to be 250x's with the big valve heads and just bored to 300cc's instead of using a 300ex platform.

I would imagine you could use it; depending on the sleeve you have you may have to bore your cases.

Thank's for the reply guys!
I just rebuilt the 300ex about 4 month's ago. And, I found a guy on craigslist selling a 330 kit lastweek for 150$$. And, I talked him down to a 100$$. Heck, It was NEW, Still in the box! I couldn't past up that deal.
So, I was just wondering if it would work on my 250x because it is smoking a little. And, It could use the extra CC's.
I guess I'll find out when I tear it down and size up the two piston's together.
Thank's again!

I'll save you the time. Pin height is exactly the same from 250x to 300ex, already been down this road.

@ miniquaddad90
So your saying that it will interchange?? I read somewhere on here that I'm going to need to do a little case work also because of the sleeve. You know anything about that?
Thank's for the reply

Yes as far as pin height. We have the 11:1 300ex piston in a 250x. Not sure on the case work, ours have minor +1mm over bores

there were/are two styles of sleeves, I believe the Pro x sleeve did not require you to bore your cases. Whereas Powrolls did.

I always used the sleeves that required us to bore the cases.

depending on the sleeve you have will determine if you need to bore your cases. If you notice the sleeve tapers down at the bottom then you do not need to bore your cases.

Any Idea if I will need to jet the carb out? It stock 250x. Or, Can I just adjust the Air/Fuel screw.
