weird clicking noise from kickstart

i recently rebuilt my engine an was putting evrything back togehter when i slowly turned it over with my hand a weird clicking noise came from the kickstart in my opinion it has to be the gears an i musta put something on backwards or do u think one of the springs is bad an i was wondering if any of you have ran into this problem or could give me some feeback any help would be appriciated

Did you index the Starter Ratchet ? Pull out the kick starter shaft and look at the END that goes into the case....there's a punch mark on it.....align that mark with the Starter ratchet punch mark.
