Bryan K, you are running YZ's now correct? How much different are they for where/how the exhaust goes onto the cylinder? I can get a Trackside for a Cobra/YZ85 combo for a good price..

I used the same trackside pipe for both our RM and YZ. The YZ is a little further forward than the RM, maybe a 1/2 inch.

gistmarrs, did you have to modify the pipe at all? or where it mounts?

I didn't have to modify ours at all. I only switched it a couple of times before I settled on a different pipe for our RM.

Like gistmarrs said I think they are really close. Yz is a good motor, I liked the rm on our quad a little better though.

I found the RM motor and the R&D pipe were a better fit for the tracks we were running. The YZ without the power valve needed to run at much higher RPM to keep the Hp up.

I believe the pipe choice is more important on the YZ as it will be controlling the 'hit' of the motor. The YZ and the Trackside combination produces a lot of 'hit' when the RPM comes up. It feels very fast however, we couldn't get that combination to produce faster lap times than the RM & R&D combo for us.

Of course, a different rider running on different tracks with different soil conditions will produce different results.

I still have a couple of stock cobra exhausts that were modded to fit YZ and RM motors and I have a modded fmf sst pipe and silencer for those motors also. Let me know if your interested.

I have a couple of DEP pipes that fit. They are just the front half (expansion chambers). I do not have silencers for them.
