motor work ? how to decide whats already done to it

Ok I got hold of an 06 I need to know how do I tell if there's motor work high comp piston.. must a compression test ? I feel like 91 isn't doing so hot . On start up it sounds like hell till it fires .. also the guy I got it from has no flipping idea if there's head workor a piston in it .. just needing to know so I am not running the wrong fuel .

No way of telling if there is a high compression piston or not unless you pull the head off.

best way to tell if someone has been in the top end is pull the valve cover and look at the head bolts and cam gear bolts. usually if the engine is clean on the inside the wrench marks will still be on both. thats the best way ive fond to check. pull your carb off and take a picture of your intake ports. we can tell from there. make sure they are good and clear.
