I was given a rough LSR No link frame, I've blasted and cleaned it up alot compared to what it was. I was wonder would it benefit at all to gusset these after market frames or not. Thanks

Why did you remove the upper rear shock mount?

It was honkey fabbed, someone tried to gusset it yrs ago. And this is a lsr rebel 250 frame. Setup for a rotrax motor and the shock was off set to the right side along with the original swingarm. So im redoing all the motor mounts for a 250 motor and new shock mounts.

My Laeger CR500 link was off set to the side as well. You could set it up for CR500 linkage/swing arm at this point if you wanted to. Would be worlds better than the std link.

It's going to be a No link. Already have the shock setup for it and a lsr No link swingarm, which I don't know 100% if it's a lsr No link swingarm. Any one have some pics of one. I'll post pics of mine soon.

Anybody got any input on gusseting the frame?

need to use the same material as the frame, 4340 and tig weld it.

Mig can be done on chromoly but i wouldn't suggest it

the places that break on the frames i have are the swingarm pivot, tubes to the foot pegs, front a-arm mounts wobble out.

and all motor mounts break atleast with a puma in them they do =P

I started with a fairly low use LSR Pro Peg frame, and knowing i hurt the JP frame with the puma in it. i decided to upgrade the motor mounts before trying it out

here is a link to the work and the custom subframe

Your frame looks sweet, the gussets I were looking at were reg steel.

how much it matters is another story but when welding mild steel to Chromoly the mild will flex more then the chromoly and the materials take slightly different welding rod.

while you can fuse it together it would never be as good as chromoly gussets on the chromoly frame.

just something to think about if your going to punish the frame much.

If you're looking to compare it to another LSR frame as to where there gussets or added tubes are located then p.m. me your email or cell number. My current set up is an 05 LSR Baja chassis. I could send some pics and you could compare. Definitely need some kind of triangulation under the engine btw.
