Go practice as much as you can, dont ride over your abilities, just go out and have fun.

Log road is a nice track. We raced there a few times. Just make sure your medical insurance is payed and you have good quality protection.

Insurance....lol......start doing pushups, all the way down, no cheating...when you get to doing 70 a day your doing good, jogging and running up hills gets your cardio and legs in shape.

lots of cardio and water, watch your caffeine intake, to much will cause you to cramp up quick.

I have raced at Log Road several times and actually it was one of my favorite tracks. I liked the natural elevation changes and all the jumps were well designed with the landing areas on the doubles very forgiving. I also liked the soil which was like a fine gravel. The only proglem I had is that it seemed to rain most of the times I went there. I have not ridden a mx track for 11 years and actually considered going to Log Road on one of their practice days just to ride. But on 2nd thought being out of shape for mx and in my 40's I probably won't do it.

dasher, like the others said, ride as much as you can and run or work out on the days you can't ride. Also make sure the quad is in top mechanical condition.

you need one on the hood, one on each side of the rear fender and one on the grab bar. pick what ever number you like.

I once was a begginer mx racer, I since then have become one of the most known guys at the track, then had a few accidents, now im old and not much of a racer.

Anyway for a begginer going to the track for the first time, let everyone go ahead of you, then ghost the last place guy until you feel comfortable passing, then ghost the next guy then the next...etc.

youll soon find your groove, your line, your pace and your abilities.

I always went for the holeshot, then I would let the 1st place guy pass me, I then ghosted 1st place until the last lap, then I would pass him and make him horribly mad... Kinda like a boxing match.

This was after alot of track time and YEARS of redneck woods racing...:blah:

Youll get the hang of it, Make sure to contact the track and get all the details on requirements for racing so youll be ready when you get there.

just thought i'd give an update, i had my first race on march 30.. i raced c class against 2 yamahas, a ktm, and a kaw, all 450's, and i won the first moto. the second moto i got 3rd, which was good enough for first overall, which is more than i expected out of my stock 400ex. i guess my home made a arms didnt do too bad..

the second race was april 7th, and i didnt do so hot.. i got last out of the 3 in quad c in the first moto and decided to fall off in the last (and my fastest) lap in the second moto.. but it was fun and i didnt get hurt so i plan on going back at the end of may after i build my motor haha

It sounds like you did great for your first race! And even better is when a 400EX beats a 450... Gotta love that.
