what's the advantage of the two? Less tranny breakage? Any input is appreciated it's for mx

hand clutch ALL the way. Direct drive, is a pain in the arse. Other riders can also figure out that a good brake check going into a turn can stall your rider with direct drive. A little bite more investment but also helps to prep for the big quads

plus they look so much cooler and oil filter never hurts

I totally disagree, I have seen nothing but broken transmissions from hand clutch units. The direct drive automatically engages the clutch when you down shift, the clutch unit lets you drop a gear with no clutch. Plus, a direct drive has won every national that has ever been won on a trx90. There is also no detectable difference in the starting line performance.
