View Full Version : Has anyone used Al Bakers XR's only

I am looking to send my head in for a port and polish with a re grind on the valves. Has anyone used xr's only. They seem to have been around for a long time and have been reallly helpful on the phone. They really no the honda engines. I also was looking at Pro Fab atv. Just they are quite a ways away. I am in CA.

Also I have ordered a HRC xr400 cam. Is anyone running this cam? After talking to a couple shops they seem to have good things to say about it. (Just a little pricey $275.00) Comes from honda as a hop up cam for the xr 400. I bought it because a couple places told me it was comparable to the stage 2 cam or better and is a drop in cam. Probably the main reason was it was a Honda made part and i feel the quality is there. Any help would be great. I am using it in a 416 with a Ross 10.8-1, New cam chain, port / polish and new vale job. Anything else for insurance?

I have used XR's Only for years! They do excellent work! To be honest with you they know the xr400/trx400 motor better than anyone around. The only advise I will give about them is to ask what their current workload is like.......they do get backed up from time to time. I know you will want your head back ASAP.....

hw much did it cost for the fins?

If I remember correctly about $250.00 I would not recommend them unless you are running the hell out of your motor for long periods.....they actually cool a bit to well.

Old number seven you say that it keeps the motor to cool. With the 440 mods making the motor runn ing hotter i would think it would be good. Just a thought

I am running a heavily built 465 in the dunes and she still runs a little too cool.

oh lol i tell ya that chrome craptor is soooooommme hunk of chit. biggest chitpile i have ever seen. :rolleyes:
