250r throttle and most likely cable used for 38 a/s or 39 pwk carb. 400ex won't open the carb all the way.

My 2000 cr 250 has a 38mm air striker & I used my trx 250r cable & thumb throttle on the carb top. Works fine! Glad I did the swap, saved my butt countless times. Im not 100% but I think the 125's has a 36mm pwk carb stock, 02 & newers switched to mikuni..

I put a 400ex throttle on my 300xc. Like deathman said, it won't fully open a 38 in stock form. But all you have to do is grind the stops down with a dremel inside the housing. If you don't want to modify a 400ex, I was told by motion pro that moose sells a throttle that will work with a 38. Depending on the carb connection, you may have to get a custom cable made from motion pro. But it sounds like you may be able to find a stock one from another model. And don't let anyone talk you out of it. It's ridiculous how much faster and more control I had when I put normal throttle on it. It's all in what your used to.

What he said. Throttle control will come in no time if you just leave it.
