After some good ride time this quad doesnt vibe bad at all, Im switching to a suspended "no link" rear end using a yamaha R6 rear shock instead of the strut so I can have more rideability around the neighborhood. Im not planning on doing any championship racing so riding with a rear shock will be good for now, I can always switch to a strut if theres a $big money$ race or a bike show or something, Im more of a local legend then a championship rider anyway...lol.

Still debating wether to build a cr80r/400ex, MX/trail/play hybrid or build my 440ex back, after riding these hybrids around the 440ex just seems like to much weight now.

Any opinions?

yea ive never heard of anybody using the 250f motors in anything.... a blaster frame with a yz250f motor would be awesome to ride.

That thing's pretty wicked.

Lately I've had the itch to build a cheetah cub banshee next but I still have to finish both of our 400's first, lol.

Actually, theres alot of those builds floating around on here!

crf250 is actually very common.

That could be an interesting build. A buddy of mine had a 400ex he put a banshee engine in and called it the 'honshee', lol. Put a cheetah in that thing, triple cylinder!

cheetah cubs are really nice, banshees will probally always be at the top of the list for fastest atv's.

If I were gonna do a cheetah I would have done a puma or saber cylinder 250r first :D

back a couple years ago i was into "building" these type of bikes. I had a 250r for a few years, and lots of extra parts and a old junk extra frame, and my brother had his banshee tore down for a frame up rebuild. so....I put his banshee motor in my old frame, and made my own 2 into 1 exhaust out of a 250r pipe, heres the vids, it didnt have any brakes

glad to see you stuck with it looks like it will be fun. Have you got a chance to run it yet? Curious to see the times you put down. looks like your 60ft will be way better. Did you keep it pretty much stock motor or do any mods before putting it in? Wonder if power will stay consistant or fall off at high RPM's due to weight.

well before the recent redo, it would top out really quick but reved good and incredibly powerful the whole way.

There really is no weight difference between this and a cr250, Im pretty sure this weighs the same or less the a cr250.

The issue is with gearing, the cr motor is setup to run like a 25in tall tire with a huge sproket and only 1 tire.

If I use 20s and try to pop the clutch I bogg slightly, but I think thats from the traction control sensor that this motor came with, suposedly I can just disconnect the wire from the carb and ill be good to go.

havent done any track times or speed runs yet, might go out tomorrow and do a speed run, its ready to hit the track, I just have to schedule it and trailer it down there now.

Anyway about the weight difference, even if it were a full 400ex chassis with nerfs, no drag cut frame, skids...etc. It would be like a fat guy riding a cr250... "which is still fast" :blah:

Oh, and the motor was said to be 100% stock when i got it, the reeds still appear to be stock reeds, motor seems to have slightly low compression when kicking. he also said he never did much maintenence on it, which was obvious when i changed the gear oil, it was possibly only changed once in its life.

But it starts on the first kick and runs like a bat outta hell.

When it blows up im going with stock bore, stock stroke, port, higher compression, v force reeds, maybe cr500 carb.

those are the only motor mods ill ever do.

you should try putting some v force reeds in it. I figured the gearing would be hard to get right. Too small on the front it will Rout and too large in the back it will fall on its face. I'll be curious to see if you eat clutches too. With more rotating mass it may put some excess strain on the basket. Cool build though, keep trying different things youll get there.

Put the extended swinger back on, it took ALOT of tedius fab work to make it all align properly again.

I probally spent 5 hours on it today just to get a fouled plug when I was trying to test ride it with no extra plug around.

All that work and no test ride....
