I did a search and didn't find much info. I have always used a moly based general grease for shock pivots and a-arm or swingarm bushings. A buddy at work is tearing apart and greasing his dirt bike and said he is using a red waterproof grease. I have heard guys using automotive wheel bearing grease. I don't think there is a right or wrong choice but wanted to hear what you guys use or think makes the most sense.

Permatex anti-sieze, lubes 10x better than grease and wont break down bushings made or rubber like petroleum based lubes

I love antiseize, put it on my swinger bolt and after a year it slid right out like it was new.

I use marine grade grease everywhere else, if it keeps saltwater out of motor parts it will deff keep mud and sand out.

just my opinion "not a proven fact" ... lol.

Lucas Red n tacky #2 grease. Its a marine grade grease with anti seize already in it. I use it on everything on the machine.

I use Citgo waterproof marine grease on everything except the carrier bearings and the front wheel bearings. I use red hi-temp grease on them, I forgot the brand but its the only kind my local Farm & Home had.

Ive been told and it is true that grease for wheel and carrier bearings isnt needed.

They are sealed bearings and the grease or oil is sealed inside.

I still use a heavy amount of grease whenever I take these things apart and put back together.

I dont care if they are sealed or not I want them greased!

while grease for the actual sealed bearings is not needed. the service manual does call for grease inside the swingarm, on the axle and on the outside of the carrier.

anti seize is great for bolts and stuff like that but, when it comes to wheel bearings and axle bearings, i use marine grease.

I pick the seal out of any bearing before installling, and pack with grease. If you've ever taken a new bearing seal out, you'll notice that they put hardly any grease in them. Probably a cost saving measure.

you stand a good chance to ruin the bearing seal if you attempt to pick it out. chances are good when you put it back in, it won't be sealed like it was. There's enough grease in a brand new bearing to last a long time as longa s the seals don't go. if the seals go, it doesn't matter how much grease they put in there....it'll fail eventually.

Thanks for all the input. It is that time of year to pull everything apart and grease the pivot points. Based in what I have read (and common sense) I will use some type of waterproof grease this time.
