I just put a 450r swingarm on my 400ex/hybrid.

My swingarm didnt come with a 450r brake caliper, so instead of buying a 450r brake caliper I took the brake stay off my 400ex and installed it on the 450r swingarm that is entirely 450r stock parts, axle, hubs...etc..

It look like it is fine and fits well except it appears that the brake pads are only 5/8 to 3/4 of the way on the rotor.

Is that normal or is it even a concern, maybe im over exagerating the distance but it seemed a lil bit different.

Is there any of you running this same setup "complete 450r swingarm, axle, brake and sproket hubs, with a 400ex brake stay and 400ex caliper" with no issues???

if you look at the 4th thread on that post, it does look like they are not down as far as a 400ex. I dont think thats a big deal as long as it works ok.

The disc should be in full contact with the plates. It may work, but of course the pads will wear strange and braking won't be as good as it should.

The 450r brake rotor is smaller than the 400ex which is much larger in diameter

Ok so a better investigation shows that the brake rotor is actually only about 3/8in touching the brake pads. "which isnt acceptable" ....Obviously.

But the cool thing is 426kidz post shows that the guy swaped a 400ex brake hub and brake stay with a 450r hub and stay and it worked.

So Im halfway to making this work, I just have to put the 400ex brake hub on and it should be just fine, if a 400ex can take a 450r brake stay and rotor a 450r should take a 400ex stay and rotor.

Switching it out tomorrow for confirmation.

In this pic the gap where you see light is actually exposed brake pad thats not covered by rotor.

This is 400ex brake stay and caliper on 450r rotor and hub.

Good news the 400ex brake hub and brake stay is 100% interchangeable with 450r, I was able to put the 400ex rotor on and now I have full contact on the pads.

Thanks guys, that link helped me out alot!!!! and saved me $60
