walsh race craft. I bought mine from baldwin back in 06, he was very sarcastic and wanted to know why I was still messing around with a 250r.
A much easier, cheaper and just as good option is a yfz450 front calipers. They bolt up to 400ex spindles and fit is perfect.

I know someone who does CNC stuff. He said he could make new ones, I just have to take my set off and send them to him so he can reverse engineer them.

I need 1 set, but am thinking it may be cheaper if more people need them, to have him do a run of them.

What does everyone think?

It will be more expensive than running the yfz calipers though, so just keep in mind they will be more than $50

Get a price. I would spend a little more just to have honda calipers. I have a set of adapters already on my MX bike. This would be for my XC bike.

I recently weighed some parts...

A 450R front caliper and its stock mount weighs in at 1lb 11.2 oz

YFZ front caliper and mount is the heaviest setup and weighs in at 1lb 13.4 oz

250R front caliper with billet mounts/adapters weighs the lightest at 1lb 6.9oz

6.5 oz diff from YFZ to 250R. 13oz total. 16oz in pound, roughly 3/4 of pound total weight savings. Shiit like that adds up... The 250R setup was so much lighter because of the billet mounts compared to the heavy stock steel ones.

Good information on the weights and I'd assume that 400ex calipers would be lighter yet. I think Andy Lagzdins ran the 400ex calipers on his GNCC Roll Design Lobo and said they worked just as good as the 250R calipers for woods racing.

no doubt the 400ex calipers will be a lot lighter. I had a 400ex caliper there too, I'll have to weigh it just for the heck of it.

I ran 400ex brakes for while, maybe 3 years or so, and it was a good functioning, well maintained system but they sucked compared to my 250r and 450r calipers. I got so used to the 400ex calipers that they felt fine. That was until I bolted my 250R calipers back on. What a big difference. I also thought my 450R calipers felt just a tad stronger than my 250R setup. But when I switched back from 450R to 250R calipers, I thought they felt exactly the same. Did I make any sense ?

Here's my dumb "250R Weights" video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWUnNcYqTQU Turn on the video annotations...

Porter Racing Products (PRP) may still make the caliper adapters. Someone should contact him and find out.

I will have a friend who is still in contact with him and see if he still makes them, or if he will and see how many we need to order to get him to make them.

I tried contacting Dave a little while ago and had no luck. It wasn't about the caliper adapters though.

Anyway if someone contacts him and he will run a batch I may be down. I'm sure it would be more cost effective if a group of us did a group buy on them.

I need a few days to look but I'm sure I have 2 sets of those I'd sell. It's been years but I got a new set from Baldwin and had an issue with them and never used them. The other set I think are PRP and ran them for awhile until I switched to Yfz calipers. Ill post up asap

Hey Everyone! I contacted Porter at prp through a close friend of mine who deals with him personally. I can get these adapters made but I need 6 people to commit and have half the money up front inorder for him to make them. I can do more than 6 orders, no problem. It will be $205.00 shipped to your door by the time it is all done. I would like $100.00 down sent to me so I know you are serious and the rest when I get them in. I would say 3-4 weeks to get them done...but I can find out for sure. Then we can get them all made at once. He will not just make 1 or 2 of them he said. Here is my cell 269-362-2458 or pm me if you want to do this, or have any questions.

Ok, I just recieved a message from Porter that he miss quoted me by $20.00 more than stated above for only 6, but the prics can stay the stated above if we can get 10 people to commit to these.
