Whats up guys? So this will be my 3rd build and first aftermarket Frame. I got lucky and found a 99% complete project with a Laeger stock replacement Frame (88-89). Was far from happy with a lot of the choices on parts / color so I did what any logical R owner would do, and tore it down to nothing.

Main Goodies and things I changed / Added

-Laeger Stock Replacement Frame (88-89) re-powder coated White

-Lone Star No-Link swing arm w/ dual rate shock

-Custom Axis Front Shocks

-Burgard +1 standard travel arms

-Engines stock displacement w/ new pistons/rings and of course some styling cues.

-LRD adjustable pipe and silencer

-More to come

Haha, So crazy you posted, Today when the frame was sliding around on the crate as I tried to mount the swinger I thought about that ATV jack I sold your buddy.

I plan on keeping this one no matter what (famous words, I know).

Still have the bike you got from me? Everything work out?

What's up Jerry, The rear swing arm and shock I got from eschonda on ebay. I had him set it up for 190lbs / XC. I haven't measured it but I am afraid it looks a tad long. I THINK the helper spring will allow for more sagging once the bikes on the ground? Your thoughts?

Hard to tell since your running a no link swinger and a standard link chassis, pull a measurement on the shock and give me a call.

Compressed length is just as important as extended length. If the compressed length is to short, the rear suspension won't have enough up travel from ride height and will bottom out on even the smallest hits unless you make it super stiff.

What you should do is measure for the correct lengths and see how close the shock is. I believe GT Thunder has a write up on their website somewhere on how to measure.

Nice, glad to have some reinsurance on it's length. I did get the pictures, but my phone is old junk so they were about 1''x1'' big haha. Send to email if you can - beobe99@aol.com

If you do hubs, your going to need spindles too cause yours are 86, i'd run them, you wont even notice them with mud on em, lol, i have some 88-89 hubs and spindles if needed, call or pm me.

Things are moving along, Engines in, air box, and of course sub frame. The engine was a complete MOFO to get in by myself with the new PC. Fun though... I think..

Was afraid that I would need to get a different Air Box because I wasn't sure if I'd need a No-link box or not.. Either way it's still kinda tight, the upper shock does touch it slightly but just at the adjustment collars. see pic.

**edit**

Just noticed how close the shock is to the bottom of the airbox (at least in the pic, I'll check tomorrow live). I imagine when the rear compresses it's going to hit!!

I just went thru this. If you're collars are hitting the boot at full droop you are going to really hit at full compression. I made myself a cheap mock up of my compressed shock and spring to check for sure. I'd hate to see you mess up that new air box

YT, thanks for looking out! Great idea you had there w/ the mock compressed shock. I was thinking of getting a tie strap and cranking it down to see (strap to the sub-frame to swinger and ratchet away). I imagine that may strain the seals though??

I didn't get a chance to look at it today but sure I will tomorrow. I remember reading awhile ago people using the LT500r air boot for better clearance around the shock? Anyone back that up?

I can't speak for any combination of LT parts. But Pro-Tec just made me a no-link airbox, and I have stock 86 intake components so i'll let you know how that works when I get to it.

Is pro-tec building you one off the set you told them you had or did you send them a pattern?

Either way let me know how it works out!

He told me he already has a template for a No-Link Laeger, which is what I have. I'll let you know how it looks as soon as it arrives. Ordered around 2 weeks ago so anytime now. Great guy to deal with too.

beobe99 I used an lt boot on mine. I tried really hard to make the r boot work. There is so much fore and aft shock movement in a no link set up that the spring collars hit the boot either in front or in back. People have used them(r boots) and say they don't hit but I couldn't make mine work. The airbox had to be moved back also. Check out the no link air box thread. I put pics of mine. chopp has posted pics of some of his methods in another thread. he cuts a stock boot and uses pvc pipe.

So things are coming along as you guys can see. I solved the air box issue by spending a million dollars having the Box I had modified... Should be good..

I started the bike and ran good but only to realize I installed the new water pump seal incorrectly. Metal side in on the mechanical seal? Ceramic side out on the propeller side seal??? The polished case I have I destroyed putting in the second new seal... That dirt thin tube with the notches bent/tore. I have another case but am going to have it blasted and might try to polish myself.
