Extended A-Arms

well im not in the market quite yet but i have been looking and im wondering what works best for the 400ex. +2+1 or +2? i know with the TRX250R the +2+1 is probobly the favorite and theres no problem with it, but i heard that on Z/KFX tha the +1 forward makes the quad a turn way to sharp. I was just wondering if there was any advantage/Drawback with th +1 foward set up. Thanx in advance

the +2+1 setup without a +1.5 swingarm on the 400ex will make the rearend heavy and cause you to wheelie in the air more when hittin a jump. ive heard they are to tricky to ride without a extended swingarm to even out the weight distribution. i would just go with the +2 setup and if you want the quad to steer wuicker just get a steering stem set so it makes the turning quicker.

i have +2s and love them and nothing acts wierd in the air

ya whats the advantage to the longer swing arm, i know it helps keep the front end down, but is there any other reason

Stay away from +2+1 arms for a 400 ex. The +1 transfers your weight back one inch. This is good for a quad like the 250R or 250r based aftermarket frame. The purpose is to lighten the front end and help the rear tires find traction. The weight ratio on the 400 ex is the perfect balance, so there really is no need to get +1 forward arms. Hope that helps a little.

yes it will help with the holshot but it won't handle as well as a standard length because the quad will be longer and a lil harder to swing the back around..someone please correct me if im wrong... thanks

Its doesn't help with the holeshot. The +2+1 arms put more weight on the rear end and cause it to wheelie. Stay away from them.

longer swingarms put more weight on the front and keeps the front planted for corning and make exiting corners easier and not let the quad wheelie so much.

with these setups you must keep a balance! if you add one inch on the rear you must add one inch to the front or the weight balance will be off

so what happends if you have a longer swing arm but no +1 forward a arm?

I've been running +3+1's up front with a stock swingarm for about 3 months......I hadn't noticed my front end coming up on jumps a WHOLE lot more.....but when I got my +1 swingarm installed, I did notice that everything seemed way more balanced somehow. You CAN go +1 up front if you are going to buy a +1 swingarm at some point......it's definately rideable, but if you don't plan on it, then don't mess up your perfect Honda balance! :) My quad is now better in holeshots, since it's not so wheelie prone, and it seems to plant better in the corners......I like the extra two inches! :)

Hello Guys:

You don't need to go forward +1" on the EX, because when Honda built the frame they already compensated for the different weight & chassis style, and they moved it 1" forward already.

Cool Jnine, but what if one is to get the 1 1/4 swingarm? What then as far as keeping the balance? Or will the swingarm not throw it off that much? Thanks
