I recently bought a Traxxas Summit and I love it. I always wanted one since I was a kid and finally decided to bite the bullet and get one. It's not truely a crawler but you can either crawl or do high speed bashing with it and it's very fun to play with. It's electric so no need to worry about gas or keeping up the maintainance on it like anything else with a motor, also everything is fully waterproof so you can literally drive it under water and it'll still run and be fine afterwards. It's got a high and low speed tranny and you can have fully open diffs, locked front only or all 4 locked, and you can do that all from the transmitter. Also has insanely good suspension and the tires are really soft and conform to the terrain really well. I jumped it off one of my old 20' doubles I have on my track and it almost cleared the entire thing, flew nice and level and took right off once it hit the ground. I can't wait till it gets warmer out to try it outside more.

I realize this doesn't help you one bit but I thought I'd throw that out there since this is kinda related.

I bought a traxxas slash here not to long ago and just bash it. well last night I snapped the frame in half so I guess its time for either a lcg 2wd chassis or going with a 4x4 roller. Rc are an awesome hobby, because it is so much cheaper than a quads.

I was thinking of using the clod buster or tlt platform. Not sure which yet..

Been looking into it a little myself. I picked up the cheap Walmart Crawler just to see how they worked and was actually impressed how flexable it was, upgraded to a better battery pack and got it to pull the front end but burned up the on/off switch. Looked at the summit and those are nice but high, lots of cool vids out with them pulling some things. Currently looking at a Losi or axiel but I've also seen an integy 1/8 scale with rear stear I liked.

Well I'm basically going to to build everything needed to convert it. Just not sure which to begin with. My buddy has an rc crawler tuber.

my brother does some competitions with them in the pittsburgh area and has built many crawlers he working on a few right now. i will give him a call and ask him what sites ext if your interested. they can be fun to run but its also nice to have a slash or something sitting around to do bashing with once in a while.
