My new to me 400ex

After being without a 400ex for about 5 years I finally pulled the trigger and bought another one. Has all the goodies. Sparks 416 kit with stage 2 hotcam, FCR 39mm carb, Sparks X6 exhaust, aluminum airbox, Laeger +2's with Custom Axis shocks with remote rezzies.

Also came with a lowering kit, sway bar, and a set of ice tires. I also got a stack of 12 different tires and wheels. Theres tons of other little things on here so Im pretty happy.

The only problem I have is when I got it home it was leaking gas through the air filter but I think thats just from trailering it home since it ran good when I bought it (unless anyone has any ideas as to why this would be happening). I'll be setting it up for MX this year so I can't wait for it to warm up.

Lots of nice goodies!!!!! Gas in the airbox I've seen while working on others guys quads....has always been a sticking float, and or dirt grime on the the float needle.


Going to keep the twist throttle....?

Not sure yet about the twist throttle, I have the stock thumb throttle so I'll see how I like it and switch it if I need to (not sure if it will hook up to the FCR though yet...)

As for the carb it got a new needle, seat, and float bowl this week from the previous owner so lets hope nothings wrong in there. If it ever gets above 5 degrees I will go out and try starting it again. Its just strange because it ran fine 30 minutes previous when I test rode it. I trailered it home and now I won't start, but I'm guessing it had something to do with the half hour drive in subzero temps.

Did you happen to drive the trip home with the gas on? It could very well have gas in the oil and would cause it not to start or run poorly if it does.

Well thanks to you guys I finally finished most of what I wanted to do to it. Picked up eveyrthing on the atvriders classifieds. Here she is with an LSR 250r axle, Blingstar bumper, Holeshot MXR6's on ITP beadlocks and DWT Rok Outs.

Yeah, but unfortunately the rears need to be cut like that for when the lowering kit is on, otherwise the studs can chew into the plastics if the bike is pushed down at all. I've thought about cutting the rears a little so they kind of have a YFZ shape to them.

Man I love that 400. I have been kicking around the idea of picking one. I told the girlfriend it would be nice to get her riding and would use her as an excuse to buy one, and turn it into a sick xc ride.... but shhh, she doesnt need to know that lol
