Can anyone post pictures of silver vein powder coated parts? I am thinking of doing my stock Z's subframe in silver vein. Do you think this would look good on a yellow z? Thanks for any pics/info you can give.

not the best pic in the world but maybe it will give you an idea. silvervein is a very versatile powder. neutral color ....hides imperfections well.....and dont look bad at all:p

you got mail!

my pics are much larger and should show a lil more detail than pap's. But check with Pappy ^ (highly reccommended!!!) on getting the subframe pc'ed. If I were you, id get the whole frame PC'ed.
And like pappy said, silvervein hides imperfects, oil, scratchs, ect very very well, looks great, and is very neutral (thats why I like it).
I now have 6 different types of silvervein on my quad ;) :D

Thanks for replying stocktires and pappy. I really like all the pics. I didnt know there was different types of silver vein. Is it just one is lighter/darker than the other?

there's slight variations, but no big difference at all. some seem to have bigger and less black blotches, ect ect.
I guess I'll let pappy answer this one :p ;) :)

yeah it can vary from naufacture to manufacure. i personally like morton's brand of silvervein, it has a higher silver content and a richer black with uniform "veins". its one of my favorites:p

here is a pic of a frame done in silvervein

My lonestar subframe is done in silvervein and it looks awesome. My bro has silver vein a-arms on his shee and it hides little scratches pretty well.

Would i have to get the subframe down to bare metal before Powder Coating it? Will sandblasting it work? Thanks

YES, Blasting is the ideal thing to do. The PC'er can generally do this for you, but it'd be cheaper to be able to do it yourself

CBW, that swingarm looks REAL nice. Does the PowderCoat last any longer or anything with clear coat? Is it used for anything other than looks? Thanks

On the silvervein the silver will tend to "wipe" off leaving just black. A Few powders MUST have a top coat. Near chrome, chrome smoke,,,,,and imo all the veins, and even the translucents should have a clear coat to get maximum life.

The clear is also more UV stable than some other base coats.....so to answer your question it does last longer witha clear coat,,,,,,and besides it is 100% glossy:D

yep yep, I loved the purty PC, but I came up with extra cash for an aftermarket one (Houser). So Dave took it off my hands :p
Looks great on the quad, no doubt!!!

Does it hold dirt? It seems to me that texture would hold dirt, and just take more time to clean.

I dont think the texture is deep enough to hold dirt any more than other Powder Coat colors.

it isnt actually porous like that its just the color pattern i guess you could say:)

Besides not being porus,,,,,once it is clear coated the texture is minimized.

yes CBW is correct..once you put the clear coat on there is no texture it feels like one of the other high gloss colors. Also There isnt much of a texture to begin with reguardless of whether it is cleared or not. Its almost smooth. But i guess that could vary on the manufacturer of the powder you are using
