Front motor mounts

Are 86 and 87-89 front motor mounts the same for all years? I know theres a left and a right motor mount but I was just thinking, ESR says their motor mounts only work on a 87-89 frame but if all front motor mounts are the same then why wouldn't they work on the 86 frame? If anyone can give me and help here it would be nice, ive been dying to bolt some anodized red motor mounts on my R but its an 86. Has anyone tried to bolt ESR motor mounts up to a 86? Or tried modifying them to fit?

I checked bikebandit.com and they list the same part number for 88-89 and 86 motor mounts so the ESR motor mounts should work im assuming?

I don't believe they'll work on an 86, due to the way the frame is compared to the later model frames. The ESR motor mounts have the offset of the mounts machined into the design.

Okay. Heres my plan. Ive got an 88 250r that's just my everyday rider, and my 86 is the mx machine. Ima buy a set from esr, see if its even possible to modify them to fit the 86, and if its impossible, bolt them on the 88.
