New packing burning smell?

Hey guys I just installed a brand new Curtis sparks pipe. It it normal for the canister to be smoking when I stop riding and smell like something's burning? This is the first ride on the new pipe. I'm thinking its just the new packing breaking in?

Yeah I have the x6 sparks and when I first got it and went first ride did the same thing but it quit after couple of times rlly riding it
