Well it will have the same power but it will be more torque but less speed which you will be able to lug it around anywhere I'm running 13 tooth and sometimes 14 tooth front with a 38 rear for xc racing

13 is quite low gearing, stock 99-04 is 15, 05+ is 14.

1 tooth down in the front is like going 3 up in the back and vice versa.

Go down in front=torque
Go down in rear= speed
Go up in front= speed
Go up in rear=torque.

For my power and to make sure I dont over rev I run 14/36 and like it alot. I easily have enough torque, but my motor is built with that in mind.

I run a 13/39 with 22in tires at the drag strip, 16/36 or 16/39 with 20in tires for trails and track.

I have a good amount of motor work to pull that kind of gearing tho. I do not recommend using 16/36 unless your bored and cam'd at the very least.

14/36 seems to be a great combo for any 400ex motor and for a variety of riding styles. I do really like the 13/38 or 39 for mx racing, my riding style and my quad like the 16t gearing

Yeah John got me running the 13/39 with my 22" tires for drag racing and it's a great gearing i think. I need a tad bit more off the line so i might switch to 13/40 since he recommended it. He knows his stuff.
