Changing a gear in bottom end

Hey guys I'm thinking my gear that turns my timing chain is stripped or missing some teeth at the bottom. To change this gear can I just take off the right side cover or do I have to split the cases?

You can by taking the side cover off.....would really doubt its missing teeth though....let us know.

Thanks bro I hope not either I hope it's not nothing worst then that or just something as easy as changing the guides
