Will only run with choke on

My 440 will only run with the choke on I have the 04 450r carb when I push the choke back down it cuts off and then when I try starting without the Choke it doesn't start at all

Sure the carbs clean?

Should be around 175 main with it. 450r carb uses less jetting believe it or not.

Also are you SURE you blocked off the hotstart properly?

Yea it was running fine before we took
It apart cause we found metal pieces in the oil I think I need a new timing chain gear the one that turns it at the bottom my dad said It grinded some teeth down a lil so we put it back together and now it won't start

Well if you messed with the timing chain then you should:
1. Make sure timing is right
2. Adjust the valves.

He deffinetly needs more then a 175 main jet, I have almost the exact same motor and a 210-220 main jet is needed for mine.

I also use a 50pilot jet.

If your 100% sure the carbs clean, blown air through all the ports and holes etc... Then you need a bigger pilot jet.

I believe either your pilots still clogged or maybe youve run to lean after your build.

Does the top end work fine with the choke fully on?
