i have a 01 tj 2.5 with a five speed. The other day second was hard to get into and now 2nd and 4th barley engages and reverse pops out and will only work if i pull as hard as i can and feather the clutch. 1st 3rd and 5th all work fine... what is wrong with my trans?

Check the fluid, if its full then Id say your trans is toast.

It needs a rebuilt as the gears are actually worn out by what you describe.

Take it to a professional trans shop.

thanks for the post discovered whats wrong stupid jeeps hold up the trans and t case with a skid plate which mine was hanging low all better now
