How fast is a modded 250X? What does it compare to when modded to the point where it is still reliable. I mean pretty modded: carb, exhaust, 10.1:1 to 11.5:1 compression, cam, filter, ported and polished head, etc. Does it compare to a stock 400EX or a slightly modded 400ex or any kind of atv. I would want it to scream for only 250cc. I have a 250 EX now. I don't want to go to a bigger motored quad I like the 250's for some reason. Would I be better off to work with the 250EX's motor. I have some awsome ideas that I have not seen/heard of a person doing to a 250 EX, custom made stuff, I have work in a machine shop. It's a vocational school. Thanks!

250x's can be pretty sick machines. If your gonna do any mods; no offense but i would ditch that 250ex and get a 300ex. You can do a lot more to a 300 than a 250ex and on the 300 you can change the gear ratios. just my 2 cents.

I have 250ex with a white bros. pipe, k&n filter, jet kit, and a Web cam ( I just installed tonight). It's very strong. I have raced a 350 warrior ( without the cam) and stayed ahead until I hit the rev limiter, then he passed me with only about 5 mph more top end. I have a friend with a 250x with just a white bros. pipe, it runs good, but doesn't have the low end hit of my 250ex. It does have a little bit of a faster top end, but not much!

A modded X is pretty fast. My X is set up for MX and it does everything I want it to do and then some. The only problem is I hope your pockets are deep enough to mod out a 250X.

I had a 1988 250x with a FST 318 kit, bored, stroked, port and polish the whole 9 yards. It was very fast. It lasted 2 years and then hand grenaded at idle. Threw the balancer shaft thru the front of the cases. It was great while it lasted.
