right now i currently own a 460ex and im thinking about getting a second quad im a very heavy guy so most companies i called suggest that i get either an old 04-05 450r or 700r but most said a 700r i never rode a 450r but i have ridden a kfx 450 and a couple of ltz 450s and to me both of those fills more comfortable than a 700r ive ridden 4 different ones.i know i would get use to it eventually but im pretty sure the 450r would be better. oh yeah i have friends that has the yfz kfx and ltz so i think the 450r would be my choice in quads. any suggestions

Me personally I would go with the 450 you can do much with the 450's the only thingi don't like about the raptors is that there top heavy and there heavy I think the only way I would ever get a raptor is if it was either free or I rode dunes a lot which I've never rode on sand

not to pry and you dont have to answer if you dont want but what do you consider very heavey. I had a good friend that used to be anywhere from 280-300 that MX rode a 450. Biggest dude i ever seen fly 100 foot. I always said if he was 180 he coulda been pro lol he was a beast and the 450 held up to him just fine

450 will handle the weight pretty well. My buddy rides a 400ex and hes like 300lbs. No jumping or anything but it hauls his fat arse around no problem.

Ive tried the raptor a few times myself, makes good power but the machine is very heavy and unwieldy vs the lighter 450.

oh yeah im about 375 and my 400 pulls me around easily but this is my problem in my area 450rs go for about 2500 and raptor 700rs go for about 3800(craiglist asking prices)i like the idea that ill save about 1300 going with the 450r but unless its moded pretty good i dont think it will be fast enough for me right off back compared to my 460ex. and if i get the quad this year it will be next year before ill be able to really dump money into it to mod it. so in reality ill be buying a slower quad than what i have and i ll have to ride it for about a year before im able to make it fly by my 460ex.but if i get a 700r it will still have the top end mph to make me happy.and the torque like i said im a big guy.O yea i ride with 2 450s a 700r a 660r and a kfx400. so basicly im the heaviest guy on the smallest class bike.

Honestly if you were to buy a 450 all you have to do is put a slip on intake and a cam and they are a complete different machine I do see what your saying though about the raptor and I wldnt mind having a raptor for those weekend rides or just having fun but it's all personal preference

If you buy an 06+ 450 and put a pipe and cam on it you will make 45+hp easy. How much hp does your 460 make right now? 40 if your lucky?

Port the 450 head and you got 50+ hp easy.

Your money. Me I wouldnt own a raptor. Too big, too heavy for my style of riding.

Raptor might have good power at about 40hp stock. But hp/weight ration is not good vs say a 450.

450 weighs about 375lbs, raptor is easy 400 or better. Might not seem like alot, but with such a small machine any weight savings is good. Thats why many remove the battery and add a kicker to the electric bikes-less weight=faster.
