With a trx450r brake fade-rotor-caliper plate-caliper, you can convert to 450r rear brake. Just need to one plain washer between the caliper and plate where the caliper gets mounted. one washer per bolt, thats it.

I can probably do that. I just gotta get the front tabs on for the seat first.

This was my first Walsh, and some of you may remember the build thread from acouple years ago. I have always felt slightly high on this quad vs the production quads that I ride here and there. I think 1" should do the trick, and bring some of that high center feel down to earth. Its not bad, but it could be better for cornering. Now if we can get a trx 450r exhaust to work with this subframe, we have just solved the 2 major problems of building hybrids; intake and exhaust.

That thread was nice, I'm sure Jerry can get this all to work and I know he was in the process of putting a Dasa Trx pipe on my Walsh that he has sitting in there somewhere...this makes me want to just have White Chassis finish up the fab on mine and send it back to me...Lol

I'm totally going through this thing again, all fresh powder, plastic, graphics etc. So this is kind of the tip off for another build thread. I will start the rest once i get it back from Jerry.

You should have Jerry build you a subframe, I seriously doubt if anyone else will pay as close attention to detail as he does.

I'd have him do his magic on the whole bike, but we have a deal set on him buying it so it is eventually going to be his baby, but I can't wait to see what comes of it and I will be watching for your thread Josborn...

Josborn, what year 250R seat foam were you running? I run the 86-87 seat foam on my R because its about an inch or so lower then the 88-89 foam. I also trim down the rear fender rubber grommets that the seat lock rides on. You can drop the rear fender 1/4 to 1/2 inch depending on how much rubber you remove.

It's a quad tech foam, I'd assume 88-89. I used to trim my foams an inch to be like 87, but I never did a great job at it, the seats usually looked below standard. Can't hardly find new or great shape 87 foam.

The 86-87 foam is the only foam that should be on these bikes in my opinion! Any complaints of high seat heights I have ever heard on these things have always came from using the later model seat foams. Switch over foams and your good to go;)

I didnt think that you could still get 86-87 foams fro Honda. If not, where can they be had?

We put a 06+ trx450 head on my LSR crf hybrid and used a 06+ TRX dasa exhaust. The only thing that had to be moded was the Mid Pipe subframe mount. Other than that it bolted right on and cleared the frame rails just fine. Just a thought.

I don't think Honda sells the 88-89 foam anymore, I know for sure they don't sell 86-87. Finding nice 86-87 foam is tough but they are out there.

jet trim can get seat foams that are really good and pretty much right on oem, with better feel.. I don't know about the 86 style but I would give them a call. i know they have the late model foam.

CEET sells foam too!!

Very close to OEM

Careful with ceet foams. I dont no about today, but back in the day (10 years ago), their foams were like sitting on plywood.

I am pretty sure you cant get oem foams. when I redid this quad two years ago the foam and cover cam from quad tech, which I would assume is the same foam as jet trim. Oh well, i will sit on it with the lowered sub frame before I decide to trim the foam. I do have another foam, but its old. I suppose i should dig it out and see if maybe its an 86-87. If not, I might try my turkey carving skills out on it first if I need to.

And everyone, my new FMF trx450r exhaust is on its way. So im holding Jerry up here, he isnt slacking. Thats why there hasnt been an update for a minute. He should get it mid next week, hopefully. Also, Im hoping we can use this exhaust, with the possiblility of only making a mid pipe or modding the one that come with it. Im pretty sure FMF will sell replacement cans.

I have had good results cutting my seat foam down with an electric knife .
It cuts it nice and smooth .

I did one way back in the 250r days with an electric knife (turkey cutter), mom was pissed, it wasnt too bad, but i could tell that I had cut it by looking at the seat cover. But that was my first time too. Im hoping it doesnt need cut.

Josborn I have a nice 86 style with hump. The covers nice but has just barely started to tear at the lower front corners but you could easily replace it . I'm willing to let it go if you want. Its obviously on a pan. I'm just too tall for it.
