Is there a name on the cylinder? If it's Arsene Racing then it should be a good runner.

That looks like a Jeff Muldrew motor (Muldrew Engine Tech) ...He used to port for the Factory Yamaha Team...He knows how to make a great 250R motor....he's been around R's for many years....He's out in Cobourg Ontario.....and his work made it all the way to Nebraska! He'd be so proud...:)

That is not a NO link setup. That is something somebody made for a stock swing arm.

Im not sure what it is, but it looks like its way off on geometry.

right, but the rear swinger is setup for a linkage, not a direct shock.

Shock is blowing oil becasue the seal is bad. Might be due to to much side loading becasue of the shock angle.

Im not sure what they have mounted on the end of the shock.

Just get a stock 250r linkage setup. You will need both pieces.

I cant tell what is mounted to the bottom of the shock. Is it welded on or what. That piece on the bottom is not OEM.

Are you talking the chrome piece on the bottom of that shock I I was told by wig style that that shock is all original I can't remember the ProRiders bike that the shocks came off they where Built in 2004

Im telling you that is not right... I have never seen anything like that...

The mount looks just like the OEM shock mount. And it looks like someone took a shock and built an extension piece to make it fit the OEM rear mounting location for the rear dog bone.

Below is a stock 86 linkage setup. The shock mounts between the dogbone and pull rod to give it a different leverage profile.

Yours looks like someone just built a piece to lengthen a shock and connect it to the rear dog bone mount. My assumption is that it doesnt work very well and has a lot to do with your blowing seals out.

Maybe im wrong and someone will correct me on here that knows more. Im just trying to be helpful.

shock and linkage .if yours is an 87 i dont think the linkage is the same

you need a 87 shock, 86-89 front linkage and 87-89 dogbone(all same part number). If you get a 86 shock, you need a 85 or 86 dogbone, you can't use the 85 frame linkage peice. Here is how the shocks go,

85 atc: longest shock, wide top mount, one year only frame linkage and longest dogbone

86 atc, same length shock as 85, different frame linkage(same as 86-89 trx), same dogbone as 86 trx and larger diameter bottom shock bolt(same as 86-89 trx)

86 trx: exactly the same as 86 atc, but a different top shock mount

87 trx:

shorter shock than 86, ~-1 dogbone(same as 87-89)

88/89 trx: shorter yet shock, same linkage as 87 trx, BUT uses a different dogbone-swingarm bolt for 85-87.

You can use any of the trx shock setups in any year, but everything needs to be the correct part.

CR500 link requires modification to the frame, and a different swing arm/shock/linkage.

I wouldnt recommend it if its your first 250r. Its primary for MX.
