View Full Version : 400ex engine polishing!!! need help asap!

hey guys, i searched high and low for an answer but couldnt find any. well my exhaust ports are majorly carboned up and i need to clean them. whats the best and easiest way to pull the exhaust valve guides to i can get in there and polishing the heck out of it???

one more thing, my cylinder head is very carboned up as well, whats the best way of cleaning that also.

if your wondering why its carboned up, i blew a head gasket and raced on it :eek2: my bad. thanks guys for any help

You can press the valve guide out or have a machine shop press it out for you, but you will have to resize the hole in it when your finished or your valve may not fit right anymore.

i think walnut blasting will get rid of that carbon

what in gods name is walnut blasting??? same as sand blasting??? :)

I just rebuilt mine.It had lots of carbon on the head and valves.I gave it to the same machine shop that did my bore.He cleaned everything up and installed new seals for $15.Oh and reseated my valves too.

lol, they get a bunch of people to throw walnuts at the piston, this process takes a couple years, haha just kidding, I have no clue.:rolleyes: :confused:

its the same as sand blastign only no sand....i repeat dont sandblast your engine!:D

you can buy it from places that sell blasting stuff. its like little ground up walnuts i beleive.... someone else should know more
