Hey guys,
I'm getting oil blowing into the tube thats between the carb and airbox what would cause it to blow oil down that breather tube I even put a little filter on the breather tube and disconnected it from the airbox/carb tube cause it was covering the airbox/carb tube with oil. but now the filter paper has oil on it. what can I do to stop it from blowing so much oil I have to had oil about every 3-4 rides please help thanks

Usually that is a sign the oil was over filled or your oil pump is not working properly

x2

Make sure you start the engine up, let it idle for 5 minutes and then turn it off and let it sit for 3 minutes. Then check the dipstick and make sure it isn't above the hole in the stick. The reason it's blowing oil out of that tube is because there is too much oil in the crankcase and it's bulding up too much pressure so it's forcing out the extra oil to relieve pressure.

The only real way for this to happen is the oil is overfull. Either you have too much oil in there or your rings are leaking and fuel is going past the rings (blowby) and contaminating the oil.

To check the oil on these you need to start it up and let it warm up for about 10 mins-then check it.

I recall you had an issue where it was burning oil and you took it apart and such.
Did you put new rings in it?

the burning oil part I found it was from the oil getting blown into that tube and getting burned that way. but I will check the oil level again and I will let you guys know

Then either its overfull (stock system takes 2 qts) or it has blowby and the gas is mixing with the oil and causing it to be overfull.

I checked the oil again and I'm a little low and the oil doesn't smell like gas

I'm having the same issue with my girls 440, I can't figure it out either, I changed the rings and valve seals. I think I'm going to just replace the cylinder and piston.

Could it be the oil pump not working right?

Check and see.... I think there is a small bolt you take out where your oil lines come out from the engine....think you take out and just tap the start switch and see if any oil blow out.....just going by fading memory but think this is right....

ok thanks I will give that a that a try. I just don't want to start putting parts in to this wheeler and have a couple hundred into it and still not have it fixed

Thats the oil check bolt if I recall. its the 3rd bolt in a row after the 2 oil cooler line bolts.

Its probably the oil pump tho, either its clogged or bad. I think theres check valve in there

thats the bolt that don't have a oil line on it right. when I check it about how much oil should shoot out?

It should just flow out. its honestly very useless for checking the oil.

so you pull that bolt out and the oil just flows out how does that tell you if the pump is working or not?

It doesnt afaik.

Take off the side cover and then you can get to the oil pump and check it out.

Oil pump bad or not it would still pump outta there with the engine running Id think.

ok I did some more testing and the oil is not going out the breather maybe just a little bit. so I'm guessing that its burning it but you can't see the smoke coming out. What do you guys think?

Has anyone ever heard of the cylinders going out of round on the 440 kits. I have a thick sleeve on mine not a thin walled sleeve

check your rings, cylinder may need honed.
