Thanks guys!
I finally put together the '84 ATC 250R Tomy trike this past summer.

Them are cool! I had the 3 wheeler as a kid. We strapped a motorcycle battery to it and burnt the plastic tires right off it! Then the front end snapped off.... hehe

Thanks!

Ya, the old '84 ATC TOMMY steering necks/trees break under their own weight. I didn't even get the trike assembled and "SNAP". That 25 year old thin/brittle plastic busted..... BUMMER!
I rebuilt the trees out of PVC and then painted them black. I hadn't reattached the headlight yet when I took the picture. It turned out ok, but I want a miniature # plate and vintage sponsor decals :-)

I did the same thing, tried assembling it and it snap too... can you post another pic of your triple tree? I hadn't thought of pvc. I had the same idea with the old decals and number plates etc... great minds think alike!

Dido!
Troy, I'll take some more pics tomorrow before work. It was pretty easy, but not too fancy. The pieces I found at Menards fit perfectly, with no slop. Real tight, but still looks like pipes (lol). Wish I had a mill/lathe to make trick stuff. My headlight addition looks kinda cob...?? Got lazy at the end.....

Sorry Troy. I didn't exactly get these pics up as soon as I said....
Again, not too fancy. It steers great and is plenty strong. No steering stops though.

Troy,
I drilled through the bottom 90* elbows to keep the fender as high as possible... That, or grind down some T's maybe ?? The black goop was an attempt at keeping the fork boots glued up, along with the zip tie under them at the bottom. The black "Perma goo" actually helps support the front fender too, as it's only zip tied to the PVC tree otherwise. I think it was normally bolted to the headlight/tree plastic, that broke.
Not my proudest work by any means, but good enough for now.

No worries Andy, I actually fabbed an alum one up this last week. Nothing too great either, just used some alum I had laying around. Going to do a "Factory" race bike theme from the early 80's, like a mini-replica of Wax's or Sundahls bikes.

I also took the battery and motor out, and got to work on designing a new motor/battery setup. I'm thinking of converting it to go kart style wheels and tires. for s..ts and giggles....

WOW!!
Your WURKS alloy trees will fit the retro race look for sure! Really nice fix, Troy.
Might inspire me to revamp mine some day. A few real R's to complete first though...;)
