Thinking of converting my sons 70 to the auto clutch setup. He is coming off a cvt so there are more things going on for him to master. Does anyone have any experience with the z-ball setup? Any pros or cons? Just want him to be in control of the machine this season and may switch it back for the following season. He just turned 8 and runs xc

I would use the auto clutch with the manual override. That way your rider can learn to use the manual clutch without worring about stalling or killing the quad. It's the same cost as the z-ball. If you would like more information just give us a call at 812 673-4958.

So what you are saying is that the clutch will still be functional as well as being able to shift without the clutch? And with the z ball you have to remove the clutch perch correct?

Yes, you are correct. You can start without usign the manual clutch and the quad will still idle in gear just like with the z-ball.

Perfect, that's what I am looking for. How is the reliability and maintenance for these. I don't plan on running it for long, maybe half the season till he gets comfortable with the idea

It holds up good and its less maintenance then the z-ball. Give me call at 812 673-4958 if you would like to know the pros and cons of all three.

I wouldn't mess with it or spend the money.Let him learn how to shift,he'll pick it up and you'll never look back. The CVT's and autos are easy for kids to be fast, but it doesn't add to the race "experience".JMHO
