stripped drain plug hole

is the wall thickness on a '06 450er crancase drain hole thick enough for a heli coil or similar type of thread repair.the bottom 2/3 of the hole is stripped out. is there any another repair ideas out there.

maybe an american thread is not as large of a step up in hole size
on a side note replacing the washer on that drain bolt will help not strip it out

Timesert or similar is what you want. A helicoil aint gonna hold up.

Failing that Id weld enough material on there to tap it to the correct size.

I stripped mine and re tapped it to the next american size up. Now has a much larger/deeper threads.
That was in 08.
