over the past 5 minths ive been rebuilding my 400ex.... one of the gears in the tranny shattered and i got it all cleaned up and putting the engine in tomorrow! i was just wondering how to set the timing and adjust the valves for a first start..... thanks in advance!!
Set engine to "t" mark on fly wheel, put cam sprocket in with marks like this _ | _ lining up with the head. its not gonna be 100% perfect so long as its very close, one mark is always about 1/16" higher than the other. Make sure cam lobes facing down.
Then adjust valves as explained here (http://www.atvriders.com/articles/valveadjustment400ex.htmlhttp://www.atvriders.com/articles/valveadjustment400ex.html)
