I'll fire the first shot across the bow...

I notice the Schoolboy Jr. class states 91cc to 300cc....
I can assume that they bumped that up from 250 to 300 to give the 300 Honda n Yamaha riders another class to ride in.
My suggestion, should be up to 250cc watercooled and 300cc air-cooled.... My reasoning, this keeps the costs of these 250 engines more managable. If they allow the 250 dirtbike engines to be bigbored/stroked ect., the cost will skyrocket even more. If we pay $600 plus dollars for a stroked CR85 crank, I can't imagine what one of these would cost....not to mentioned the headwork and cylinderwork.
Additionally, If the Watercooled engines are bored/stroked up to a 300....I don't see any 300 aircooled's even bothering to enter the class essentially killing the gate numbers before the class ever has a fair chance to grow on its own. Just my opinion..
With Honda discontinuing the 300ex I truly believe this is the class of the near future for kids 13 - 15yo... No more Schoolboy Jr. and Sr. class...

We run a crf bigbore local and the cost is not that much more. A cylinder and piston kit is only a few hundred more and the crank is only 250. And u are correct there is no way a 300ex is gonna have the power the dirt bike motor can make. Maybe do a few nats this year with the new class.

So can you put a 300 2 stroke in the mod 201 cc to 300 cc class

This guy has the right idea.
IMO, A 250/300cc 250R (with a apples to apples rider) will stomp the slow strokes.

It would be real cool to build a 250 r and smoke them mods.

Since when did the promoters group care how much it costs the riders PARENTS ?

iF A GUYS GONNA SPEND 25 GRAND TO BUILD A 250 MOD ANOTHER $ 800 TO MAKE IT A BIG BORE IS NOTHING.

At least we dont have to hear the crap about it being SAFER for a 14 YR OLD kid to ride a 45 or 50 hp quad than a 30 hp quad. ( the truth finally came out.)

( Its funny my girlfriends 13 yr old son asked me if it was ok to sell his quad that we are building and get a dirt bike. He said we live with in a half hour of 2 mx tracks but neither track want quads. I told him if he could get Ryan to switch i would buy them both 2 new bikes of there choice totally race ready. ) AND STILL SAVE A FEW GRAND LEFT OVER. LOL........I KNOW IT WONT HAPPEN BUT I CAN DREAM. lol

Have a Merry christmas guys.. be safe

That is what we have built in the past, we use a 250R based chassis, and use either the kaw, suzuki, or the yamaha, because the dual cams fit better, and they weigh around 300 lbs. Because of the light weight, they can run with a good 450. We will probably build a few more this year, with the new class being made

I really think the 250 class is a great choice instead of issues with a 90 two strokes, the four stroke runs all season no issues! And keeps the kids interested until they are 16, as it has enough power to make it fun for them!

Just talked to Dean the new rule will be posted to read
91cc to 200cc 2 stroke 300 cc 4 stroke
So the 250 & 300 2 stroke is out

Here's how and what I think would make a good class. 105 - 200cc 2 stroke, up to 250cc watercooled 4 stroke, up to 300cc air-cooled.
This allows for another class to run the 300 Honda and Yamaha Raptor in..... JMO

Cheater Joes bikes will run in the 250/300 mod class with the JB's and the "used to be production" apex's.
In case you haven't heard, Apex's (85's and 250's) are not a production quad anymore.
