I recentlly sucked in some sand and I am burning oil pretty bad.
My qeustion is what other effects did it have on my motor besides the obvious , scored cylinder wall and worn rings. I had planed on doing a bore kit any way, just not this soon, oh well!! I want to do a 426 kit but i want it to be strong and very powerfull especially on the top end? what do you guys recomend? and what do I need besides (11:1 piston, stage 2 cam, head gasket)?
PLEASE HELP!!!
PS: could the cylinder be worn worse than a 426 bore from sand?

I would get a new base gasket and replace the studs. I like my 426 good power. good luck, Porting might be a good idea. New rockers?

I think that you will find out if it is worse then a 426 bore when you take it a part, because who knows how big the sand grains were that you sucked in. I love my 426 the power is awsome, mines ported and polished, with the rockers, and hotcam stage 2, wesico 11:1 piston.

You are lucky you have a 4 stroke! I sucked in some sand in my R a couple years back, not only did it score my cylinder walls pretty bad, it took out my bottom end bearings and cost me a crank
On the other hand, it was a dang good excuse to get a big bore stroker :D

Well, a 426 bore alone won't give you all that much power. The things that make a motor fast are porting, head flowing, and tuning. It's a common misconception that a 440EX is the beast, or whatever.. But I've seen a ported stock cylindered 400 lay waste to a 440 many times.

well said.
Displacement isn't quite as important as how much air and fuel you can actually get into the engine.

I know what port and polish is but when you say flowing what do you mean? And also tuning what is involved there?

the more air and fuel you can suck in and spit out exhuast is what flowing means.

Negative. That would be porting. Porting is increasing the diamater of your intake/exhaust ports so that the motor will have a higher amount of fuel flow. ;)
