Got a question for all you guys running 465 kits.. How fast are they..

1. Do they keep up with two strokes?

2. Will they smoke other 4 strokes (Cannidales, raptors, DS650's, etc.)?

3. How reliable are they?

4. How long have you been running your 465?

5. And how much do you end up spending total?

I was looking at the Trinity but really want to go with the Curtis Sparks since I have a lot of friends who have had problems with Trinity's other kits...

I have a 463 stroker and love it it is toned down for the woods with little head work. It could really be livend up. As is it is a very fast machine. you have plenty of torque you could gear it up with no problem and not have to worry about 1st gear power. I think the stroker will be much more powerfull than a 465 bored motor. price shouldn't be much diferent. what I have cost under $1500.00. I got it done at FDO

First off, get on the phone and dial this number 740-967-1078 and ask for Mike. He will give you all the details. I got all the parts from him when I did my 463. He is great to talk to and get info from. He will build it how ever you want. Mine has the 6mm stroked crank, 88mm JE pistons w/ 13:1 compression, 8 disk clutch kit. Tell him that Tony sent you. You will love the work he does.
Or if you want you could just buy my quad. :D
Good Luck......

Sorry I forgot the other questions you have.
Yes it will keep up with 2-strokes. I have a friend with a stroked shee and we run very close until 3rd gear. Then he just walks away. I have not ran it against a Raptor or a C-dale so I don't know about that.
Mike told me it should be reliable, that was one thing I stressed when I did mine. I did not want to work on it every other race and I still wanted to trail ride it.
I put mine in last fall, so I don't have alot of time on it. I took it to the litte sahara right away and I was happy with the performance in the sand. Now that it is getting warmer here I have played with the jetting and fuel screw. It runs alot harder now. :devil

I think you would be very happy with a 465! I was told by Tom that the only major difference in a 505 and a 465 is torque. He said a 505 will have a few more HP but torque is the most considerable difference and being that I drag race I need everything I can get! The power is amazing! On mine, it pulls in 4th gear harder than it used to pull 2nd gear with my old 416!! Actually the thing is hard to hold on to under full throttle!! The fastest quad I have raced so far(I havent been beat yet)was a 420 long rod Banshee on alcohol,,I beat him to the 300ft mark but thats right about where he starts to pass me,,but in our drag races the 300ft mark is what counts!! If you really wanted to save money you could do like most guys do and just buy the stroker crank and do all the work yourself, but if you are serious about having one of the fastest quads out there then I wouldnt have it any other way then sending it to the builder and having him do all the work, porting and polishing with flow bench, shaved flywheel, case mods that are needed with a stroker(not sure about the 465, but I know my 505 had to have it) and all the other little secrets that builders use to keep the motors as reliable as possible, and fast!!! But then again, you will probably have to wait a while for it too!! My complete motor, with absolutely everything that needs to be done, a TC pipe, and a 42mm Lectron carb all cost me around $3200. I would go with Sparks before I went with Trinity if I was you, but again you would have to wait a lot longer!! Sparks is behind about a year right now.
Good luck on whatever you decide!!

The 463 kit I have from FDO is built for GNCC racing. Reliability and ridability were the two main keys we kept in mind while building it. What he did to mine included the crank being stroked 6mm and balanced, A custom light Heavy duty connecting rod, Custom JE piston (88mm) compresion your choice, all Gaskets and valve seals, Mild trail port. Cam of your choice (diferent cams may change the price of the motor)bore and hone the cylinder and all labor with tax should be about 1500 give or go a touch. Like tony said give Mike a call he is a great guy to talk to. (740) 967-1078.

I thought you said in that other thread that you hadn't got to race anyone in a real drag race yet?

I havent raced anyone in a real competition drag race yet, but when me and the friends go riding we usually race each other and a few others out there just for fun. My friend is actually the one with the Banshee,,,,I also have another friend that has a Banshee with Cool Heads and high compression on alky, but he isnt near as fast as the Long rod 420.
