Early vs. late model z400 a-arms

I've got an 87 Lt250r and read where the z400 arms up till 04 will bolt up to it. I've found where they used the 12mm ball joints then switched to 10mm in 05. Is this the only difference? Are the arm dimensions and mounting locations the same on newer vs. early model z400s? Thanks.

Just a little update. I got some Lonestar arms for an 05 Z400 and they had the larger ball joints with a tapered shaft. My LT250r uppers use the larger ball joints without the taper. The lowers use a groved shaft that clamps into the spindle. I'll be using a yamaha spindles to make these work.
