thats a tricky question !
as long as spring rate is right
and you have ride height set
there should be a certain amount % of sag with and without the rider
i know where xc stuff should be but cant give you a positive number on the sag %
i would ask hetrick ,sms or C&D

How would you setup the stock 2012 shocks for xc?

Measure the full travel
and you should be at 65-70% with the rider on machine geared up
but those shocks are.barely adjustable on the clickers like 3 clicks
you would have to factor that in a bit
also i would have two springs on all shocks with proper.crossover to eat up the.light chatter:)

Hey Tim,I guess a good point i should have added in would be that we run ATV 4 play stuff and the ride height for other manufactures may be different.I would check with who ever built your set-up and see what they recommend.

Ride height is a preference.
Also a tool used to make your rider faster on each specific track

Its is a complex and very important question you are asking.

how important?
we changed Joels in 011(when he rode for me)
every race sometimes twice a day. Some say
" Pros are different" but are they?
This stuff is just as important to a mini as a pro

Find and average from your suspension mfg and then hit me up at a race sometime, bring a few beers it will take a while.

Ride height can be the difference of a win or a 5th

100% correct and when you are dealing with a 50# rider the difficulty is ten fold!!!!!!!!
it really boils down to how much barley pop you got :blah:

I agree with you.For use it is rider preference.I just figured each manufacture had a starting point with there stuff.
