Winter build

Well guys I was going to start my xc build after snow started falling but I went to change my oil and was putting the filter back in and put the long bolt in and noticed it felt funny so I took it back out and there's my threads from inside the case soni think tomorrow I'm sending off to the shop in town and basically tear down replace all bearings and inspect from bottom to top end with a port and polish and 416 kit with 11:1 compression I'll try to get pics up of my quad before the build starts and as I go on I also got my front elka shocks long travel laeger a arms on the way and rear pep shock just gotta get everything ready

I am going to strip it down and get the frame and hubs powder coated once I get the motor running I'm just seeing how everything fits so far

do you like that +2 steering stem? looks a lil high. I'm 6'3 and was thinking about going +2 but yours looks extra high lol

Where do you usually ride at and yes the plus +2 was def worth it so much mor comfortable

No stock width on axle I wanna keep it narrow for harescramble

Also I'll be taking my motor to eleven 10 mods for a full bottom to top end rebuild new crank new bearing 11:1 comp 416 piston crf450 cam chain gtthunder studs and there also going to do the jetting

Well it's time to take the motor out and change the swingarm I know the swingarm bolt will suck I don't think it's ever been out since the quad was bought in 2002 but anyways anyone have any tips or steps on how they take the motor out besides beer and patience?

Heat, PBlaster, an impact gun, a sledge hammer and a bolt or something similar to tap it out carefully.

Well don't have a air compressor so no impact gun I got everything out except the swingarm bolt this is going to be fun

Suggest you buy an electric impact, use it then return it if you gotta. Trust me without one its near impossible to get it out easy in most cases.

I'm going to turn it on its side and soak it in pbblaster for a few days then this thursday when I have work and everything off I'm guns try it

if you look at the first pages of my build therd (project slow going) ( or something like that) I show the 4 wheeler on its side. The bolt was a PITA to get out for me. I let it soak in pb blaster a lot. Went out and hammered on it for a few hours for anou 3 or 4 days. But what found helped best was suporting the frame with a jack stand right but the bold tead when the wheeler is on its side. That was the frame isint springing aprta and absorbing your impact from your hammer. I also tryed heating the coller that goes around the bolt on the throttle side since that's the only side I could get to. Hope this helps.

Got the bolt and motor all out I'll post pics tmrw hopefully of it in pieces I'm Gina put my axle in my new swingarm while the motor is away and probably going to order new sprockets front sprocket is pretty curled over any tips on sprocket setup for harescrambles

No I have laeger a arms there gloss black and my grab bar is gloss black the only thing I have left to powder coat will be my hubs and prolly cases of the motor

Mtndew99, that thing is going to look great when you are done, especially since it looked pretty filthy when you started. It will be like a whole new quad!

Also got the jack for Christmas Way better then Putting things under the quad to hold on

I got the same jack, very nice piece. I found out today though that if you have nerf bars on it that are fairly wide then the arms aren't long enough to go completely under the quad and lift it up evenly. It sits cock-eyed. Other than that it's great for working on a wheeler. Builds coming along nicely, I like the Laeger arms, haven't seen a pair of those in awhile.

I sent off my rear stock shock to gt thunder and getting an xc link with it and Im not sure if I measured everything right but I barely have to do anything to my subframe for the link to work it looks like all I have to do is raise the airbox so I think since I have a 1 1/4 swingarm that it moved everything back another to where I don't need to change much of anything

It came black and I didn't have any leaks either with it
