I've seen yfz's without oil tanks and I've tried doing research on what you have to do and I can't find anything . Does anybody know anything about this?

All depends on what you want to acheive. About the only gains are a lighter bike, and a little simplicity. The trade-off is oil and engine life. Advantages? Well, the additional oil helps keep the oil (and components) running cooler. The idea with a dry sump is to keep the oil away from the crank and the rest of the reciprocating parts. When the parts have to run in an oil "bath", it's drag and costs some horsepower. When some of the crank manufacturers "knife-edge" cranks, it's to defeat that drag, or what's defined as "windage". In theory, a properly executed dry-sump system should make better power if you can manage your oil levels correctly. Bearings, bushings, and wrist pin life should be better too, including trans parts just because oil is sheared less, foams less, and does it's job in supporting load better.

You might have been looking at a YFZ450r. Newer YFZs don't have the oil tank.
