if you do that without disassembling aren`t you going to drop shavings into the motor? don`t know your scenario. fit a nut to a spark plug and that`ll tell you.

m12x1.5 (or maybe 1.25 IDK for sure) I think.

Dont bother with a helicoil, it will only come out later. If you must repair it, buy the sav-a-thread. It uses a solid insert that will not come out all that easy. I have a sparkplug in my pickup truck I repaired that aint budged yet for years.

Id try chasing the threads first.

could be a 1.0 pitch, my klx110 had that pitch. to bad they didnt make a timesert or any locking thread insert with that pitch.. i ended up welding it shut and drilling a new hole and tapping.

You dont have a home depot or lowes nearby? Take the spark plug and try and thread it into one of those bolt tester things they have. Or take the taps they sell and match up the threads..

we had a atc that stripped the plug threads, we wound up tapping it for the next biggest thread plug that had the same length and heat ratios.

It worked out really great but isnt what anyone wants to have to do.

In our case re tapping didnt work for the standard plug size, maybe you will get lucky.

Next time keep in mind that plugs only have to be hand tight then quarter turned with the plug wrench to avoid stripping in the future.
