Just wanted to start off by saying hello to everyone. After almost 3 years of not riding the 250R, ive uncovered, disassembled and am getting ready to build it back up. Ive got the 250R fever once again.
Anyways just wondering if anyone has put a scooped hood on racecut Maijer fenders. Ive got a set of Blue fenders that i really wanna switch for some fullbores, but if i can throw a hood on, change it up a bit, maybe i could put the $ towards some other parts.
If anyones got some info, pics, or just wants to say whatts up. lets talk.. Evan

just some info that might help in your decision ,

im not sure if your aware fullbore is out of the 250r fender production, and not looking like they are going to do any more,

they might have a few reds and some off colors but if they do not many, but white ones are almost as rare as oems

Fullbore will make a few sets of blue I believe.

Well I probably won't be buying new fullbores, plastic is so rediculously over priced. A nice used set of blue fronts would be ideal!

I have a set of fullbores with a maiers scooped hood that i put on my R and it looks good! i just measured it all out and threw a chalk line on it and marked the holes from the hood. used a small band saw to cut the plastics making them a 3 piece front then did a little light sanding to smooth out the cuts, then drilled my four holes where it bolts on and the hood bolted right up. I think it looks dope and professional. Super easy to do

Super easy to do does the maier white match the full bore white? same gloss ?

in other words if I matched a new maier rear, to a new front full bore, would there be any tint or shine differences?

EDIT i think I read wrong do you just have a fullbore hood?

I have a set of MAIER fenders and I simply just wanna know if you can get a scooped hood on them. Without it looking ghetto or outta place.

Yes it can be done. I have fullbores front and rear and I turned them into a. 3 piece front end by mounting a maier scooped hood on it. Everything matched great and looks as if they came that way. I don't see why it would be any different with maier plastics and quad tech hood, same concept different brands.

FWC makes a scooped hood for OEM style plastics and Fullbore plastics. No sense in rigging up a hood, do it the right way.

Well I don't have Oem plastic, or fullbore. I have maier and I just want to see a scooped hood on MAIER

They also make a scooped hood that goes with the 3 piece front, therefore it will work! Doing it the way I did is not "rigging" anything. it's no diff then if you bought the 3 piece. As long as you take you time to make sure it's all straight nobody will ever know you did it yourself unless you tell them. It will bolt up the exact same way as it would if you bought the fenders and hood together.

I answered this question before with pictures. Yes it will work. I used a one piece front. Ill look for the tread

I sure did. I like the looks of the fullbores but I think the nose looks stupid. Just mounting a hood on top of them is even more stupid because you can still see the original plastics through the scoop, so by making them a 3 piece you eliminate that problem and it looks 100 times better! ( my opinion of course) I'm sure some would argue but I like it and its just one more thing that helps make my bike that much different from every other 250r out there. I think it looks pretty tough!

The quad tech hood won't sit flat on the one peice maier fenders. I had to grind all the mounts on the underside of the hood and drill four mounting holes one at each corner. I used beveled washers to make the bolts look cleaner. If you use the mounts on the hood it will leave a ⅛ to ¼ inch gap down the sides of the hood. I'll post you some more pics tomorrow when I get to my shop. I think hawaiiysr sent me some pics of his with the mounts still on the hood if I can find it I'll see if I can post that also so you can see what the gap looks like.

Sounds like a plan.. I've been looking online at other people's creations. I'm thinking I can turn my onepiece into two piece. Just gotta cut the middle out and do some fab work. I just know how awesome the quadtech hood is gunna look.! Just gotta get it mounted super snug and not ghetto, otherwise ill be upset i sniped my fenders

Hope that helps you out. Another thing you should think about is that on 3 piece fenders there is a lip that the hood sits in. I don't know if the hood will sit flat even if you cut them into 3 pieces cause you won't have that lip. Search the other site for quad tech hood and look for the thread I started then you could see the pics hawaiiysr posted to see the gaps. You can see them through the scoop
