Has anyone put a ktm 65 sx in a cobra chassis? I got a killer deal on a complete motor, carb and all the electrical parts that I was thinking about putting in my cobra chassis.

Is the cobra too fast or something?

I believe the KX65 is what is prefered from what i've seen. Gotta have a good mix of torque and horsepower.
Like in the 90 mod class the Honda is perfered because of this over the other 85's out there even though the Honda got smoked by most others in the two wheel world... I tried the KTM85 in our mod...had it built by one one the best KTM engine guys in the country and it would not keep up plus parts were a biatch to get and expensive.

I would only do it if I had an 08 or 09 and newer Ktm 65. Those motors have powervalves, should be a better fit than the cobra motor. Although, it is rumored that a cobra powervalve is coming out for next year.

Thanks for the input guys. the motor is a 1998 so I don't know if I can put a newer crank and top end on it or not. I have it tore down right now because the main shaft had a broke tooth, so now is the time to upgrade if it will work.

Hey Desratt !! Evidently this guy wants a motor to make it to the end of the race , not just be fast for a few laps!!!
