I have an 11:1 wiseco and was wondering if there are other ways to bump compression besides a new piston? Would be run on 100LL

I think the xr head gasket is a little thiner compaired to a trx head gasket. It will bump the compression some.

Your not going to gain much of anything really unless you slap in a 12:1 or higher piston and run race fuel.

Ask yourself something:

Do I want to dump close to a grand in parts and more in labor (if you dont do it yourself) into my quad

OR

Buy a 450 and put a higher comp piston in it and run race gas?

Whats the cheaper route...I think you know already.

Same reason why the 400 although my fav quad has left on the back burner for my 450.

I was thinking though I eventually wanted a 400 that will kill a medium builot 450.. Just doesnt seem worth it though..

Exactly. The hey day of the 400 is over sadly. They are still super reliable and good machines, but power isnt easy to come by.

I will say that my 400 is very fast, not as fast as a 450 but dang close. But it took alot of cash to get there.

Ya... On another note, a friends friend told me yesterday he has a yfz450x for sale with many many goodies. Best part is it got like 10-15 hours on it.

Watch out for the earlier yfz's, they have problems with oiling and need the cases to be modified and small jet installed to make sure it oils the lower end properly.

I think it's 05 down have a hidden oil filter also. But this one is a 2011. Really nice.

Yea 06 and earlier I think is the problem.

2011, dang man must be a steal!

I like the yfz, they are nimble, but I will say they lack the grunt the honda does-more linear power its not hard hitting.
