I wouldnt give fishing up for the world! But I know what you mean, the older you get the more responsibilities you take on. Thats actually my pops with the brown trout. We have been going for the salmon run every year since I was about 10

We stay right in Pulaski New York. The Salmon river is definitely the place to be right now. They said that this is the best run they have ever seen!

Pulaski New York on the Salmon River. For those who are familiar, we like to fish the black hole.

Yeah no problem! You are most likely going to be catching Steelhead and Brown trout this late in the season. You might still catch the end of the salmon run also. But we fish not to far from Pulaski New York. One of our favorite spots to fish is the Black Hole on Salmon River. It is east on route 13. It is not to far from the town of Pulaski. But there are many good spots. Just print yourself off a map of Salmon river, such as this one

http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/39992.html

If I were you I would ask around but if the run is good, pretty much anywhere is good fishing.

As for the set up that I use, and not to brag but I catch a lot of fish (the guys say I catch the most in the group), I use a 10 weight Cortland Diamond back rod with a 9-10 weight Cortland real. Now you can use either fly line or monofilament line. I use floating fly line (you can see where your line is a lot better). I tie on 15 pound Maxima leader (about 5 feet in length) off of that leader I tie on 10 pound Maxima tippet (about 4 feet in length). You have to play with your weight depending on what the river conditions are like but I usually use 2 medium sized sinkers.

If you stop at Fat Nancys tackle shop right off of 81, they will help you out. They will tell you what flys are good to use and also sell any tackle that you might need.

I hope this helps you out! If you have any other questions, let me know!

Fished the black hole also. Kept snagging them but no luck! Went to my buddies spot, (we had to work for it on the hike over there) and tagged out in about a hour!

Yeah the hardest part about fishing the black hole is landing them, but we scale the rock wall and fish up in the stream rather than right in the black hole. Always land our fish there. Have much better luck

Well we always stuck to fishing with fly rods, much better for catching fish, but you could still use the same set up that I was telling you about. Just the 5 foot 15 pound leader, 4 foot 10 pound tippet and your fly and sinkers.

When we were there we only caught one brown trout (they weren't really running yet) but I have heard your best bet for catching big browns is to fish at oak orchard. I have never been there but it is near Albion New York.

You will most likely be just a little late in two weeks for salmon, but they are starting to catch steelhead.

Go to this website and they will give you updates on what is going on every couple days

http://www.fatnancystackle.com

As for tackle, Stick to the colors such as blue, purple, and green. Use egg patterns, wooley buggars, Muddler Minnows and crystal meth flies. Very good for catching Browns and Steelhead.

Hope this helps you out!

Thx a lot for all the help do you inow when the best time to go up there for the big browns and big steel heads that what I rlly want

The steelhead are what are coming up the river right now. At least that is what the update says on fat nancys website says. This trip we just took up, we caught a lot of steelhead at the black hole.

They say the best time for Browns is the end of October through November (that is their spawning time). They follow the spawning salmon

I have personally never been there but I hear a lot of guys saying that if you want to catch some nice browns to go to Oak Orchard and Fish. I am not familiar with the surrounding area but it is off of 81 somewhere after Syracuse
