I split my cases this evening.

I will go take pics and tell you the story.

I'm an idiot.

Who knew that a case saver could cause you to not be able to shift?

Pics coming.

This bolt on my case saver.... I over-tightened.

Since I am an idiot and over tightened it.. It broke through the case...

When it broke through the case, it caused this hole.

After I broke through the case, and the end of the bolt was catching on the gearshift spindle arm.

Is that a moose case saver? The bolts that came with both the moose case savers I bought were way too long and bottomed out before they even touched the saver. I had to use some shorter bolts I had laying around.

So, that little circle piece sticking out of the Shift spindle arm, it was hitting on that bolt that broke through the case.

You can see where it was rubbing in this picture.

Nope it is a stock one.

I was getting ready to buy a moose case saver but then I heard you can't put a bigger front sprocket on.

SO I figured stock worked for now.

Should just have to buy a Center gasket, put it back together and be good to go.

Hopefully.

However I am glad that I split the cases, because from where I broke through the case, there were chunks of metal all over the inside of my cases.

Yeah, they are only made to clear a 14t front. I had to grind nearly all the material off the saver in front of the sprocket with my 15t front.

I wish they made one of these for a 400ex, it says it can clear a front sprocket one size up from stock. http://www.motosport.com/atv/TM-DESIGNWORKS-INTEGRATED-CASE-SAVER-AND-SPROCKET-COVER-BLACK

Yeah that looks good!

The reason why I figured I would just stick with stock is,

By the time you grind enough off the case saver to make it fit, It probably isn't going to be strong enough to stop your chain from breaking the saver, then continuing to bust into the case and or case cover.

I mean that is my thinking anyways.

Just ordered my center case gasket....

Over nighted that b*tch!

You guys could make a poly case saver like I did.
I bought a sheet of polyurethane off ebay and cut it to fit.

Is that a frame protector there to stop you from rubbing off the powder coat with your foot?

DId you make it or buy it?

Yes it is!
I made that. Its pretty simple. I leaned the quad over a bit, covered the area with foil, and put down a couple layers of fiberglass.
I didn't bother with the other side ...yet
