Only difference is the extra resinator. The in and out is the same.

Yes I know this. I have a 88 89 air boot, infact I have 3, they just won't work on this project. I bought a brand new one from hot foot moto. They manufacture the 86-87 trx250r air boot out of a higher quality material. Looks just like stock but cost $70 and Honda discontinued theirs.

Not to be a dope, but '86 is the only year carb boot without the resonator.
'87-'89 came with the resonator bottle, and applicable carb boot. Enough of my history lesson, carry on...

Thanks for the lesson. I wasn't alive back then anyways lol. Just going off the Honda microfish. I could still be wrong though.

You may have indeed seen an '86-'87 fiche picture that shows the '86 carb boot. Many times the picture posted will be the same visually for a couple years. If you look at part numbers for each year they are different though. This is very common on the fiche for the '85-'86 ATC 250R's as well. Same microfiche picture, but completely different parts for each year. Close in physical appearance overall, but altered or "updated" parts with small details not seen in the fiche pictures. Kinda confusing, and not sure as to why Honda does it this way... ???
Sorry to be a Nerd, just trying to explain the confusion.
Have a great weekend!
