alright my 400s gota a really loud tick
its not the usual valve tick
ive been told from different people that its
a leak on one of the headers
havent got a chance to check it out yet
but if its the header would that cause a loss in power? also sounds like it sucks air when i first rev it

oh and no motor mods
any help would be appreciated :)

Check for carb leak, get some carb clean and spray all around the carb. The idle jumps you got a leak at the cab, possibly at the boots.

To check for exhaust leak, turn it on and stick your hand over the muffler. You will hear the air hiss out from the leak.

yep, there are crush gaskets under each header port. They are a copper color.

when installing them use the header to pull the gaskets in to place. hitting them in will crush them.

so put them in place and let the headers push them down when i tighten em

Did you hold your hand over the exhaust like I explained earlier. You will know exactly where its coming from.

That or take an incense stick andput it near any areas you think are leaking.

Try tightening it up a bit more. If it doesnt stop leaking either your header bolts, flange or header itself (unlikely) is bent a bit.

Those flanges bend easy. BUT be careful you dont over tighten the nuts, the studs will pull out.

You sure there arent 2 exhaust gaskets in there. They can be hard to see, I did it once myself.
